Weekend Inspiration / Travel

Only eight months until our trip to Europe! Recently we have been planning our September trip over to Europe with a quick stop in London too!! I am sooo so so excited, i have never been to Europe or any where further than Asia. There is so much that you can do but I have been given the advice to not try to do everything at once, we can always go back after all.

I am a little bit (a lot) terrified of the long haul flight but i know its the fastest way, pretty much the only way to get there... But I will print a picture of the Amalfi Coast and stick it on the seat in front of me and spend the hours reading about all the amazing places we will go. If you have any must do's or must see's, I would love to know!

For the Melbournians out there, how amazing was the weather this weekend?! I hope, I hope, i hope (!!) that we have a proper hot Australian Summer this year! I have two weeks off over Christmas and have just moved one block from the beach so I am planning to get as many beach days in as possible. My weekend was filled with lots of cooking and baking and a couple of cute kittens. It was so lovely and now I'm looking forward to the next one already!

Moving house has been SO fun! Hard work, but very fun. I have been collecting things for my one-day home for years and had filled the roof storage, 2 x glory boxes, garage and bedroom at my family home with many different items. I seem to be pretty sorted in terms of household items, the only thing missing now is the decorating.

My walls are pretty bare apart from a few stunning Kat Macleod's in my lounge room. SO when I found this pretty 'Summer Fruit' print by Claire Nereim, I knew it would be the perfect piece to brighten up my kitchen. Now I am considering the Wildflower calendar for the lounge room... so beautiful.

Lets talk about the weather!! Like most of you, I have also been hating morning exercise for the past few months because (obviously) it has been ffffreezing! My fingers don't deal well with the winter season, as contact with anything cold (like spoons, car doors or the wind) will instantly drain the blood out of my fingers and turn them numb, so as well as cold i find winter a little painful too. The recent balmy mornings this week have been heaven!! Love, love, LOVE getting out into the fresh morning air and not feeling like you might freeze to the spot. I know its going to be chilly again for the next few weeks, but SOON it will be spring!!

Attached are some pictures from this weeks musings. I have also found a really cute stationary brand, a tumblr always filled and updated with lovely images (have i sent this before?), a cute little illustration blog, the pretty cookbook i was telling Sim about yesterday and lastly some really nice travel videos (there are 3, i think you will like them).

Its FRIDAY, once again. Gee-wizz they come around super quickly. I am looking forward to this weekend as much as I am not. I have two huge events to get through (some bigger for others, but still will be very emotional for me). I am loosing a dear dear friend to the city of London town. Skipping countries, the most amazing quest and adventure I could think of. You have to be most brave and most organised to be able to make it happen. I'm pretty sure most of you reading this have done it yourself so you know what its like. Its huge!

Secondly, although not very secret as I hoped/tried, another even is taking place which will have my heart skipping 100 miles per hour, but more about that next week... I don't want to jix myself.

So, among other news I have made an attempt to start a health kick an in procrastination I have found some most delicious looking blogs full of calories and carbs which will in turn make your taste buds dance and be merry. There are times when I question my love of craft, because in theory it is a pretty nerdy thing. It's like the girls version of being an IT nerd, and I don't want to be seen as the IT nerd girl version - but i just cant suppress my love of craft and the need to keep my hands making things, especially during the winter months.

Craft from the 70's - 90's era was quite revolting including a lot of browns, oranges and creams (not my cup-of-tea anyway) and I think a lot of people think of that stuff when they hear the word 'craft' (please now go and google 'craft') as well as all that ugly shit that people do with popsicle sticks and clag etc. But i don't make that sort of ugly shit, I like to think that I make pretty cool shit - like chunky woollen scarves, natural coloured ceramics, pom poms and fox quilts.

The other day my boyfriend challenged my craft love by saying 'I think that you loving knitting is very odd' - why boyfriend? huh? You didn't think that when you got that warm navy scarf last winter that only took me like 3 weeks and all of my spare time to knit! Anyway, since finding the image below, from now on I will imagine myself (while sitting on the couch in my trackies, boyfriend jumper and ugg boots) that I look as divine as Audrey does while I'm knitting my big double bed rug, how could you ever consider craft nerdy again? You can't.

Have you heard of The Loop? If not, it's an design portfolio site where you create a personal profile featuring images of your work and your cv too if you like. It makes it easy for you to be looked up by potential employers or to search for jobs in the design industry OR if your like me, to spend hours looking at other peoples profiles and become overwhelmed by all the amazing work thats being produced out there.

I found James Nunn's profile today and particularly loved this project, Deer Sue. The presentation of this project is also really nice. So much more to be discovered.... enjoy!

I dont mean to 'repost' this but I just spotted over on Broadsheet the article about The Leonard Joel Annual Photographic Auction, which will be held this Sunday 19 June at 2pm at Leonard Joel in South Yarra. Featuring the beautiful work of many international photographers. I am ashamed to say I have not heard of either photographer, however now I do and I am so inspired by their work.

When I was little I hated breakfast, I always thought it was so boring. Back when Vegemite toast and Sultana Bran were my only options (due to inability to shop or cook for myself). Now, however it is equal first favorite with dinner. Since my boyfriend moved to brunswick, we have been exploring different restaurants each weekend and now I think one breakfast out a weekend will become part of my routine, i'm addicted! Only problem now is choosing between sweet and savory, but I do find it hard to pass up a big vege breakfast. Yum!

I found this Breakfast blog which I look to for home breakfast inspiration... beware of visiting, you will be lost for hours and come out the other end with a rumbly tummy.

Things that you don't expect can just happen in a second. It makes me feel like perhaps I should have my most precious items locked somewhere safe but also somewhere accessible enough so that in times of emergency we can grab them without a thought.

The blog The Burning House is about what people would grab first if they had to get up and out with only a matter of seconds to spare. I find it really interesting to see what people hold most dearly and makes me think, what would i lunge first for?

Mad About Mud

You might already know this but... for the Melbourne-ites out there - did you know Mud (the most beautiful porcelain ceramic wear ever) designed by Shelley Simpson, have opened a shop in Gertrude Street, Fitzroy? Every piece is hand made, which blows me away as I know how hard it can be to make two of the same item, not to mention hundreds. They come in the most stunning colours and are a mixture of a matt underside and a glazed inside porcelain.

I have been in about 3 times in the last week, because now I can't think of a more perfect present for all occasions. I could spend hours making little combos with the colours and shapes. Ah! Shelley is one talented lady. I might have to start collecting for when I get my new apartment.

I am forever thinking about and looking for my dream apartment. We are hunting at the moment to find one that fits our long list of criteria and expectations, which is as you can imagine very hard and time consuming not to mention heart retching.

We thought a few weeks ago that we had nabbed the apartment of our dreams until another person outbid us. I had already moved in in my mind and was having troubles working out whether I would put the couch on the left or the right of the lounge area, and should the tv go in the corner or in the middle of the wall. It was shattering to be denied at the very last moment, and I am still working up the strength to get back out there trawling the streets with my iphone gps looking in and around hundreds of possible apartments. But, I know, what is meant to be will be and that everything happens for a reason.

Anyway, these beautiful photos by Hilda Grahnat (one of my favorite blogs to visit) has inspired me with her pretty windowsill pots to get back out there and find my dream abode... Oh, the thought of filling a window with lovely greenery makes me just that bit more inspired. Thanks Hilda!

I've always adored J Crew and just came across the J Crew blog its really lovely and full of beautiful inspiration. I love the low messy pony tails that are in fashion at the moment, also the bright pink and orange lips are really gorgeous too. J Crew also have such a cute fashion photography style, it always makes me want every outfit! Alas JC do not ship to Australia. Another reason to travel?

Mothers Day (this sunday!)

I think its really important to spoil our parents, not on mothers/fathers day especially but just any time. As I have grown up a bit more and moved out (then back home again) I have realised what our parent do for us! SO much! I still get homesick after a few days away from the nest... 18 years (23 in my case, and counting) of looking after us is a very big commitment for these gorgeous people and I think they need to be constantly rewarded!

How was your Easter break? Mine was lovely but I ate too many easter eggs and have been running for 1 week non stop, not really more like lying around in pain with a tummy ache. Oops!

Soooo, this weeks Monday-spiration brings to you some wedding attire inspiration (in light of the recent wedding! p.s. i only just found out about the rumor of Harry's dad possibly not being Charles! Welcome to another happy monday-spiration! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I had to fit so much into 2 days that it kind of felt like it surely had to be 3-4 days. I also don't think i ate one home cooked or prepared meal all weekend which was a little expensive but indulgent and very fun. One day when I have my own house I will have friends over for cooked breakfast/lunch/dinner's on my fairy light lit balcony/court yard like in the secret life series. That always looked like so much fun!

All of our hearts and thoughts are going out to Japan in this sad and scary time, I feel so lucky to have recently been over there to enjoy their beautiful country, everyone was so welcoming and friendly. It makes me so sad to think back to all the gorgeous people I met and wonder about how they might be dealing with their world in turmoil.

I am getting involved with the For Japan With Love bloggers day of silence. Tomorrow, 18th March myself and a large group of bloggers wont be posting anything on their blogs as a sign of love and thoughts going out to Japan and all of those effected.

You can donate money to the Australian Red Cross Japan Disaster Appeal or the Shelter Box Japan Disaster Appeal. Thank-you!

I hope everyone had a very fun and relaxing long weekend. there are no excuses for sleepiness or monday-itus today, although one extra sleep in does get our body clocks out of whack and into holiday mode so perhaps you are struggling to stay awake? My weekend was full of babies, beginning with my friends baby shower lunch on friday and then meeting my new little cousin, Ryder, on saturday and my boyfriends little cousin's 4th birthday extravaganza on sunday which included a jumping castle, face painting, bubble machine, games, giant guest penguin, lollies, jelly and ice-cream! Monday was supposed to be a day of rest, attempting to get away from screaming children and sugar hangovers by having lunch with friends and a quick visit to Ikea to deck out my boyfriends new home... bad idea... Ikea is screaming kid and fighting couple, not to mention traffic jam heaven. Never again. I had a cute bunch of tea towels that Leigh made me ditch due to having to escape halfway through our visit from anxiety related feelings. Is Ikea ever quiet?

Anyway, I hope your all sitting quietly somewhere recovering or simply enjoying being full of sleep and relaxation. This week i have some inspiration from a young sydney designer, a london man who shot a really pretty series of ball photographs, a blog filled with typography from everywhere, a lovely brisbane lass who draws cute quirky illustrations and a young girl who has perhaps just diagnosed herself with kitten-syndrome. i do hope you enjoy.

'Picture Me' showing at ACMI

My friends and I saw the film 'Picture Me' by Model Sara Ziff and her boyfriend Ole Schell at ACMI tonight, as part of the L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. A documentary following former model Sara Ziff and her experiences and thoughts on life as a model.

It's a huge eye opener to the realities of the fashion industry and how, although a lot of girls grow up wishing they could be a model and be like the girls in the magazines, that it isn't all that it seems. I loved it, and have an even stronger appreciation and respect for models and what they go through.

I'm not sure how I am going to sit through the LMFF runway show next week, this film will definitely be replaying in my mind. Go see it! It is very interesting!

I talk about Bloglovin to everyone and anyone who will listen to me at the moment. If you are like me and attempt to follow 99 zillion blogs and have a slight form of OCD then I promise what I have to share with you will be music to your ears. Being one who thrives on order and control, finding Bloglovin was pretty much like the best thing in the world.

Bloglovin allows you to follow all your blogs, bookmark them and then creates a live feed of every single blog you have saved into one window... If you haven't fainted from happiness right now then the only reason is probably because you already have heard of this amazingness of a website.

Happy happy Monday! I hope your weekends were fun and full of activities like lazing in that lovely sunshine. After a hard, long day of making tomato sauce (followed by water fights in the property next door) at Nonna's on saturday it was nice to spend sunday shopping, eating pho, relaxing and enjoying that beautiful sunshine.

As a lover of food & cooking, I have found a weekly favorite Amy Simpson who posts delicious sounding vegetarian recipes (which I am always on the lookout for) along with a cute story about each one. My Little Japan Guide

We had such an amazing time in Japan, i would go back in a second. I have done a little summery of some of my favorite things (that I can remember the names of anyway) a lot of our favorite adventures happened by accident so I can’t remember the names of a lot of the places we came across. Anyway, here are some of the things I do remember and recommend.

EAT/DRINK
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1. Street stalls – We came across many street food stalls during our stay. The vendors make delicious food like Yaki Soba, Doughnuts, Octopus Balls, Crepes... The streets are where some of the most amazing food is purchased and tasted!

2. Watami – A chain of Japanese restaurants, the food is delicious, the sake is hot, everything is well priced and recommended by the locals.

3. 7-Eleven/Family Mart – Where you get quick and easy bento boxes for lunch. There are many other bento box shops, but if in doubt 7-Eleven and Family Mart have a huge range of hot and cold foods, most are very yummy and very cheap!

4. Royal Milk Tea – On our first morning in Tokyo I tried one of the hot milk teas which come in plastic bottles or cans. It was so delicious and it tasted a little bit like peach. So yum!

5. Kate Coffee – a really cute café in Shimokitazawa, if you go to Japan, its definitely worth the visit. They give away really cute monthly calendars at the door which is one reason why you would go back again and again, not to mention the delicious chai!

STAY
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1. Andon Ryokan - a lovely little traditional ryokan, run by a beautiful family. A little bit far away from the city centre, but its nice to get away from the bright lights and noisy streets. You sleep on tatami mats on the floor.

2. Kangaroo Hotel - around the corner from Andon. A little concrete hotel, each room has 2 bunk beds and enough room for 2 bags. Small and squishy but warm and friendly.

3. - Khaosan Hostel - a great little hostel in Kyoto. You can get a private room for two, its very new and have lovely friendly staff and a fun common room.

4. Leaf Court - If you feel the need for some space and your own bathroom, this place is in a cute little area with many florists and restaurants.

5. Kimi Ryokan - We didn’t stay here, but it was recommended by a friend, I have been told its very lovely.

SHOP
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1. Harajuku - is the central of youth fashion, it has all the big brands you expect to see plus many little lanes filled with amazing japanese local brands. You can spend the whole day, there is too much to see. Not only is there shopping but also the Meiji-Jingu Shrine is at the top of Harajuku, right next to the train station. After a big day of walking rest your feet at the jazz cafe which you will find up a spiral staircase on Meiji rd, opposite H&M. Then head over to Watami for a delicious dinner.

2. Shibuya - as well as all the fashion, this is where you will find many cute stationary shops like Spiral, Loft and Ito-ya. This area will need at lease a whole day.

3. Shimokitazawa – I really enjoyed wondering around these cute streets filled with gorgeous vintage/zakka/book shops and kawaii cafe's. This is where all the cool kids live, and I can tell why.

4. Ginza – is an amazing area to experience 'rich' Japan. We went there on Christmas night, the streets were dripping in fairy lights and snow was falling out of the Hermes windows. An Christmas I will never forget.

5. Daikanyama – is a cute little neighbourhood scattered with vintage shops, pooch parlors and pretty streets which all run of a gorgeous canal. A lovely area to spend wondering around one afternoon.

VISIT
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1. Mt Koya San (when its snowing) - the 2.5 hour train trip from Osaka was well worth it, not only was the journey one of the most beautiful experiences of my life but Mt Koya San was like a heaven on earth. A quiet, beautiful, untouched little Japanese town.

2. Nara – another of my favorite adventures was the day trip to Nara. We walked around the beautiful city from temple to temple amongst the thousands of deers that live in the area. You can by deer biscuits from the locals which the deer eat straight from your hands.

3. Kyoto – There were many places in Kyoto that I loved, the walk amongst the red gates, the little ancient laneways where you spot geisha girls shuffling from place to place. I ate some of the best food I tasted in Japan and saw the most beautiful traditional temples and streets.

4. Arashiyama – this lovely little town is famous for its bamboo grove a little trail which takes you amongst tall swaying bamboo, everything is so green and so calm, the noise of the bamboo bumping each is very relaxing and zen.

5. Osaka Aquarium – go and visit the big whale shark. His size absolutely blew me away, the boys couldn’t drag me away from the tank. If you visit at 3pm you can see him at feeding time! Scary!!

Tokyo Gardens + Florists

While I was in Japan recently, I couldn't help but take photos of all the pretty floristry in the potted gardens and the local florists. I was lucky enough to be staying in a street filled with many pretty little flower shops, so walking to the station each day was so lovely as I got to pass by each florist to see the daily flowers on offer. The bunches that the shop keepers put together were so gorgeous and considered, wrapped in lovely brown paper and filled with pretty pops of colour.

My boyfriend couldn't understand why I would get so distracted and take many photos of the gardens and florists, but they were just soooo lovely and like nothing I had seen before. I would love to start my own florist one day and more realistically a potted garden too!

Oops, sorry about missing out on last weeks Monday-spiration (was supposed to be the 'Japan Issue'). I have had a few technical difficulties and lost all my emails including my drafts folder where i had been compiling my Japan info... so i will post that one next week when i put it all together again. For now, i have a regular Monday-spiration filled with new cute things I have spotted recently.

So, maybe i'm having a little 'video moment' but film is really inspiring me at the moment. I have always been really into photography and am trying to back into it, but it is the 3D-ness from moving images that i love and that can really resonate the mood and feeling of a past moment in time.

Anzacs

One of my eleven new years resolutions was that i would cook one thing a week. Well, this week it was Anzac biscuits. My gorgeous friend had all of our friends over for a morning tea on the weekend to catch up on all the holiday goss. We all took a plate of baked deliciousness, which is very dangerous as all my friends are fantastic cooks so its hard to stop yourself from devouring mountains of food. Anyway, here is the recipe to my Anzacs... they are meant to be a little chewy and similar to brandy snaps.

Delicious Anzacs

Little balls the size of a large grape.

Burnt the first batch... oops.

A plateful of delicious Anzacs

Anzac Biscuits

Makes approximately 24 small Anzacs.

Ingredients

1/2 cup of oats

1/2 cup of sugar

1/3 + 1 tbsp flower

2 tbsp golden syrup

1/2 tsp bicarb soda

1 tbsp boiling water

60g melted butter

Method

(1) set your oven at 160 degrees

(2) mix oats, sugar + flower together

(3) add golden syrup, bicarb soda + water, mix well

(4) while frothing add melted butter + pour into dry ingredients

(5) drop small (approx the size of a large grape) spoonfuls of mixture onto a flowered tray allowing room for the mixture to spread

(6) bake at 160 degrees for 10 minutes or until golden brown

(7) allow to cool and then devour

I've been having so much fun wrapping all my gifts for my family from Japan. Everywhere in Japan was so completely inspiring, full of amazing design and decoration AND cute tape. I thought it was only fitting that i attempted to make my gifts look like the Japan cuteness that i remember. I found a cute little paper bag template on the internet and made little gift bags out of the Japanese newspaper, then covered everything with MT tape. Too fun! I think i need to make a trip to Daiso soon to get my Japanese cute stuff fix and then visit Izakaya Chuji for dinner afterwards. Yum!

Monday-spiration

I've decided a few things now that the year has clocked over to 2011. As well as my 11 resolutions, which can be seen below. I have decided to try my very best to live by my gorgeous and super smart friend, Domonique's, mentality of less is more and to live like a parisian would. Please read her very inspirational post here, and all her other posts while you are at it, she is truly inspirational. So this weekend I will be packing up my room to leave only the bare basics. Then off to the local market i go, hoping to bring home but a purse full of coins.

I've also decided to take up a new view on Mondays. Generally its a dull and somber day where people hide in their shells of sorrow that the weekend is over. BUT we can't do that forever, so its my new favorite day where i inspire myself and hopefully you too with fun pretty things to recharge me for the week. So, to change up the order of things i will post my inspiration collections on Monday mornings! In hope to inspire you for the week to come. In this week's links I have a mixture of a mexican graphic studio, a cute little blog i recently discovered, some cute little illustrations, an animation by Chanel and the latest Satorialist doco. The Rolling Stones' girls

I have always adored the work of the super talented Abbey McCulloch. When I saw her new illos on the Russh mag website yesterday... i think my heart melted a little bit. It took me back to the day I first discovered Abbey's work at the Helen Gory Galerie in Prahran. She has been an inspiration of mine from the beginning of my dabbling in art & design, perhaps one of the reasons I loved and appreciated art at school so much? Who wouldn't want to stare into and write about beautiful artwork like this for a subject at school? I think i have a lot to thank Abbey for, and she has done it again, inspired me beyond words with her new work The Rolling Stones' girls.

Tokyo, Japan

My boyfriend and I are on our dream holiday in Tokyo, Japan! We have only been here five nights and it feels like we have been here for months. I am in-love with this city! It is such an amazing culture shock, which i am very comfortable being amongst. Everything is so clean and ordered... some may say it might be feeding my OCD (which i don't actually have, I just like being in clean and neat spaces). Everyone who is sick here wear surgical masks as not to infect others around them, how considerate! Today we were in Harajuku shopping and we crossed the street and walked straight into a Japanese maple tree forest with a big beautiful temple hidden in the middle. So beautiful! All the girls say 'Kawaii' meaning 'cute' about everything and the city streets smell like sweet chocolate crepes. The shopping, sight seeing, eating, drinking and people watching is the most amazing i have ever experienced, highly recommended. Also, its freezing(!!!) and its Christmas so everything looks absolutely stunning.

We are heading South-West to Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and Mt Fuji next week but here is a bit of Tokyo..

Summer is finally here! And now that it is, I feel like I need to reshuffle my wardrobe. Ditch the darks and get some new bright prettiness in there. I have found my perfect prey... I've written about how much I love Limedrop before, but this season! Oh-my! So lovely! They have a little pop up shop in Melbourne Central over the Summer (yay!), which wont be able to drag me away from. I have a few pieces in mind that i'd like to bag, also those shoes are a-mazing! Northcote Pottery

Recently my two gorgeous pottery teachers left for a holiday for a couple of months overseas. Having just sold my pottery wheel, i thought if i wanted to keep going with some potting i had to find another place to work.

So, i discovered the wheel classes at the very beautiful Northcote Pottery. In my first class i was introduced to my new teacher... Sophie Milne! Ummm whoa, Sophie Milne! I know her work very well from having worked at Craft Vic so i was very excited, but at the same time a little nervous. We learnt many things from techniques of throwing and turning to making handles and glazing. It was so mesmerizing watching Sophie on the wheel showing us what we were about to attempt. She is so so talented that everything she did would look every so perfect and beautiful, quite the opposite of what i achieved.

I am pretty happy with the things i made in her class; jugs, cups and a few bowls. I thought i'd post them and highly recommend the class to anyone who is itching for something creative to do. Now my other teachers are back i've got some plates and canisters on the go so as soon as they are done I will photograph and post them up too. x

I hope you are all well and warm from our hot hot week in Melbourne. Even though its been rainy the past two days i can still feel the vitamin D in my skin and the happy sun vibes in my mind. Its only the beginning, many summer days are yet to grace us with their humidity! A lot has been happening around here... which is why I have been so absent. Sorry about that! One of which is the planning of my Summer holiday in Wintery Japan! My friends and I are ditching the beach this year and heading for the snowy town of Nikko and chilly city Tokyo. I have been busting to go for years and now I only have about 25 sleeps until a 6am take off! All advice and tips on holidaying in Japan are most welcome AND if you have any ideas for Christmas day in Japan.. I would love to know, i imagine Christmas in Japan would be very different than the Aussie roast lunches i am so used to.

I have been saving these links for a Friday when I had some time to post them. Penola, The Prettiest Country Town.

Over the weekend my family and I visited Penola, South Australia, a town I visited twice a year and a youngster to visit my gorgeous grandparents. I had not been there for two years since my granny's funeral, so going back was especially lovely to see how the town has grown, changed and bloomed! Since the last time i visited it was hit by a tornado and had a huge Mary MacKillop celebration, so the town has definitely ruffled its feathers... for the better.

I spent the weekend learning from Mum how to turn the heel in my pretty little sock. I am surprised how easy it was, but then again i did have my mum next to me telling me what to do. Thanks Mum!

This is a picture of the pretty little shop 'Wilson's Cottage' in Petticoat Lane, Penola that my granny ran for over 20 years. She filled it with beautiful linen items, homewears and night wear.

The photos above are taken in the Sharom Cottege vegie garden. A very pretty place in Petticoat Lane behind the small and quaint Sharom Cottege.

I highly recommend Penola as a relaxing country holiday destination! Stay in the Haywood's Pub Hotel, it is absolutely stunning, you sleep in four poster beds and amongst gorgeous french polished furniture. Visit Petticoat Lane and dine at Pipers Restaurant. Penola is surrounded by many wineries and gorgeous gardens to wonder around. And if you visit in Spring, you will be blown away by the gorgeous huge roses that line every garden and every street. Potting and Sewing

I have been super busy getting back into ceramics and clothes making over the last few weeks. I'll have to post about the clothes later but as for pottery I have a grand plan to make a full set of plates, bowls, cups, jugs, containers... etc my list keeps going on. so far i have made eight bowls and eight cups, i am up to four plates, but i think i will attempt twelve, knowing me i will brake four in the first week so i will be left with eight. Ohh its never ending, but so much fun!

Oh no! I skipped one. Oops, i hope this makes up for 2 weeks of inspiration! Last week I was given a little glipse into some backstage information about the current trends and forecasts and i thought you might like it if i shared it with you all...

On the hair front, it looks like long and wavy (possibly with a bit of a beach texture) is the key, with a potential dip die of a lighter colour. If your hair is shorter then tie it up and wrap a little 50's style scarf around your head. Morange appears to be the lip colour of the season, the application should be thick and matte. Don't be scared this spring to double floral, mix and match to your hearts contents. Add a little tan to the combo, like a tan sandal or belt. When not wearing florals, bright colours and chunky jewellery is what's said to be trend worthy. Get out your grandmothers old rings and chunky chains, possibly making these the feature of your outfit. If your going to wrap a present, it appears that you should be wrapping in a pink patterned paper tied up with natural string. Forget the card and perhaps write the message straight onto the present. When sending invitation consider a pop of colour and perhaps a gold leaf foil. You will be the bell of the ball at any party with these tips.

Wow, i only just realised i will be turning 23 in 20 days.. i've ben so busy with PP that I totally forgot. I have realised that in my old age i have gained a lot more information (especially in the last 24 hours) that i previously never knew... did you know you can buy a piece of the titanic at the Melbourne Museum?, ceramics never break down even after being in the deepest part of the ocean for 75 years!, i also realised you need to stretch to get ready for battle while in the line for a Zimmerman/any amazing brand sale (it gets super vicious! even when your a nice young girl like me!), on that note i need to stay away from all sales for a while, things will always take twice as long as you think, always!, the N&J Thai restaurant on Smith Street is seriously delicious and quick to serve!, i really want to try the new Thai Restaurant called Easy Tiger also on Smith Street, single girls are flocking to Italy, India and Indonesia to live the eat, prey, love dream, the current season of Australia's Next Top Model is very addictive and life consuming so be warned if you think about watching it. Its just been Paris fashion week and I am so jealous I wasn't there! Ok ok enough!

Yet another week passes us by. It freaks me out a little how life flys by so quickly, but its not that bad right now because I know we are one week closer to summer, christmas, nye, easter etc. In such a fast paced life we all have to make sure that we slow down DAILY to smell the roses. Anyway enough of that, how great is this Aussie Dollar situation?? I know what i'll be doing while the boys are watching the footy tomorrow... i'll be lying in the sun, my lappy out searching the web for international purchase opportunities and fill my wardrobe for summer! Perhaps with a cosmo or two on hand.

Summmmerrrr! Hurry up. Oh how i miss hot nights and flowing dresses. I'm SO sick of layering up to keep warm. My fingers keep turning blue because i'm not wearing enough clothing, i guess i have been a bit silly in my daily outfit choices, hopeful that the sun will come out for longer than an hour.

These photos are keeping me warm today. They remind me of summer holidays at the beach with my friends, all glamed up catching the shuttle bus down to the foreshore for the nightly party... Ohhh fun memories.
